Description
At the border of Tanzania and Kenya is the northern most part of the Serengeti. It becomes the Masai Mara in Kenya but it is still part of the Serengeti eco system and the great migration. Lions will hunt from trees as this lioness is doing. They will post above game trails and wait. We happened along and got this young lionesses attention. The road was very close to the tree the lioness was occupying which made for a great photo opt. Hmmmmmmmm A bit too close? At one point the lioness was looking almost directly down at us. Not much we could have done if she decided to come for a visit. We minded our manners and so did she.

This is AMAZING! Not only is this lioness captured perfectly, the light coming in through the tree takes this photograph to a whole new level!

VERY BRAVE photography indeed! I love your work! I see we share a love of nature and wildlife. You have to love it to get a shot like this. Really nice gallery. :-) Adele.

Thank you for your comments on my paintings, truly appreciated. You seem to be quite a privileged artist. (What is a sausage tree?)

You can see in the photo that her ears are up and she has flicked her tail. That's an indication of agitation. She is not happy with our presence. We were within 25 feet of her. Too far for a leap but close enough to say" close encounter" A leopard could make such a jump but not so a lion.
