Description
Just south of the Serengeti in Tanzania is the location of this (one of many) Masai village. The hut is made from sticks, mud and cow dung. (cow dung endures rain better than plain mud; dried the odor is the same) The serpentine entry prevents lions to enter. The dried stick barrier behind the Masai man circles the village. It serves as a barrier to lion, leopard and hyena as well. Many Masai children who become of age leave the village to be college educated and then return to this simple life by choice as did the Masai elder pictured here. Less is more for the Masai.

Love the story behind the image and the square format is perfect framing for this image. Well done!
