Description
An actual image of two cheetahs chasing each other at full speed. Photo was taken at Busch Gardens Tampa using a 400 mm Canon lens and a Canon 5D digital body. I did my best following these sprinters and snapping the shutter all the time. Of 12 images in this sequence this was my favorite. They are F A S T !!!!

Your sentiments are well founded! It seems that is an aberration of nature to have such beautiful animals penned up for the their lifespan. I would love one day to visit Africa and shoot in their natural habitat but for now the zoo is as close as I can get!! It is not always uplifting to visit them at the zoo!

It's one of those things you can't hope for you just have to do it. It's an expensive but unforgettable experience. It will change your life.

Great action shot Joseph! Must have been exhilarating to watch them!
Joseph G Holland replied:
Thanks Fraida, This puts the fun back in photography. Capturing this image was exciting. Sadly though these cats are in captivity and reduced to being nothing more than pets.Their small enclosure by comparison to the Masai Mara in Kenya keeps them protected from the elements and gives them some room to run. Because they are well fed and have no need to hunt, I kind of feel sorry for them because they will never chase anything other than a ball of feathers, entertainment for them and us. I miss Africa and the bush.
